Frequently asked questions
Setting up
How do I set up a new Dripspy mat?
Open the zip fastener on the mat and activate the batteries, install the free Elementric app from the App Store or Google Play, and allow the permissions it asks for, including notifications and location "while using the app". Then follow the guided pairing in the app, which uses Bluetooth and the QR code on the mat. When it is finished the app shows the mat as Online.
My mat will not connect to my WiFi. What should I check?
Check that your phone is on the 2.4 GHz network while pairing, and that you are using that network's name and password. If it still will not come online, move the mat closer to the router to test, restart the router and the phone, and forget the network on the phone and join it again.
Does Dripspy work on a 5 GHz network?
No. The mat's radio runs on 2.4 GHz only (2412-2484 MHz, maximum 20.5 dBm), so it has to join a 2.4 GHz network.
My router uses one network name for both bands. Will that work?
A single combined name, often called Smart Connect, is a common reason pairing fails. Split the bands into separate names in the router, for example HomeWiFi_2G and HomeWiFi_5G, and pick a free 2.4 GHz channel; 1, 6 or 11 are usually best.
Pairing never even starts. What is wrong?
That usually means Bluetooth is switched off on the phone, the app is missing a permission it asked for, or there is radio interference nearby. Check Bluetooth and the app's permissions first, then try again closer to the mat.
How do I factory reset the mat?
Hold the button on the mat for 10 to 15 seconds, until the LED blinks. You can then pair it again from the start in the app.
Using your mat
Where should I put the mat?
Lay it in or under the sink cabinet, where drips from the trap, the supply pipes and the appliances land. On Dripspy WiFi you can also run the 2 m sensor cable behind the dishwasher so it lies in the drip tray under the machine.
How much water does it take to raise an alert?
About five drops reaching the mat, or the sensor cable where one is fitted. The whole textile surface senses water, so it catches a slow drip that would never form a puddle, but it does need direct contact with water.
Does the mat cover my whole kitchen floor?
No. It covers the area where drips land, under the sink, the dishwasher or the fridge, not the whole floor.
How do I get told about a leak?
A Dripspy WiFi mat alerts over your home WiFi as a push notification or a text, and you can share alerts with your family. A Dripspy LoRaWAN mat sends its messages to the property team's monitoring platform, and resends any message the server does not acknowledge.
How long does the battery last, and how do I check it?
Dripspy WiFi runs on two AAA batteries (2000 mAh) with an estimated life of four years or more, according to the product sheet. Each mat's page in the app shows its battery level as a percentage, and the mat raises an alert when the battery runs low. Battery life for the LoRaWAN mat is not published; ask us if you need the figure for a project.
No alerts are arriving. What should I look at?
In the app, check that text alerts are switched on and that the phone number is correct. Interference on 2.4 GHz from something like a microwave or a baby monitor can also disturb the connection, and the app shows whether the mat is still online.
Where to buy
Where can I buy Dripspy in Sweden?
Dripspy is sold as Droppmattan in Sweden, through retail and through the wholesalers Ahlsell and Sonepar/Elektroskandia.
Where can I buy it in Norway, Denmark or Finland?
In Norway it is sold by Elkjøp, in Denmark by Elgiganten, and in Finland by Gigantti, Kärkkäinen and Clas Ohlson.
Can I buy it in Germany, the UK or elsewhere in Europe?
In Germany, iot-shop.de sells the LoRaWAN mat; the WiFi mat is not on sale there yet. In Poland, the UK and the rest of Europe there is no retailer yet, so write to sales@elementric.com and we will pass your question to the team.
Can I buy straight from Elementric?
No. Elementric sells through retailers, wholesalers and partners rather than direct to consumers. Retailers, kitchen companies, installers, property owners and insurers can write to sales@elementric.com.
Rules and approvals
Is Dripspy approved under CR 139?
Yes. Dripspy holds RISE type approval C901469 under certification rule CR 139, valid to 17 March 2031, covering the mat with either WiFi or LoRaWAN communication.
What does Säker Vatteninstallation 2026:1 require in a kitchen?
Since 1 January 2026 the Swedish rule has required a moisture sensor under the sink and under the dishwasher, connected to a leak breaker, a water shut-off or a water alarm. Those products must be approved under CR 139, and Dripspy is the sensor in that setup.
Is Dripspy the only approved water alarm I can use?
No. Other products are type-approved under CR 139, and any of them can be used to meet the rule. RISE did describe Elementric as the first to receive type approval for a connected water alarm.
Will my insurer give me a mat?
Länsförsäkringar companies in several Swedish regions give Dripspy mats to their customers free of charge. Whether it applies to you is for your own insurer to say, so ask them.
Recycling, returns and support
How do I recycle a Dripspy mat?
It is electronic equipment with batteries, so it must not go in household waste; hand it in free of charge at a collection point for electrical and electronic waste. Remove the mat from your Elementric app first, and take the AAA batteries out of the WiFi version and recycle them separately. Each region's page on this site explains the local take-back rules and links the official finder.
What about the batteries in the LoRaWAN mat?
Hand the mat in as electrical waste at a collection point; batteries inside must not go in household waste. Elementric is registered with Naturvårdsverket in Sweden as a producer of electrical equipment and batteries (battery registration SEBATT00003031).
My mat is faulty. How do I return it?
Returns are handled by the shop or wholesaler you bought it from, so contact them first. If you are not sure whether the mat is faulty, write to support@elementric.com and we will help you check it.
How do I reach support?
Email support@elementric.com, or use the contact form on your regional page of this site. Trade and sales questions go to sales@elementric.com.
